Spread the love

If you are looking for the man or the woman of your life online, be careful: according to a new French study, Tinder would not be very effective. Explanations.

Is it really possible to find love through a dating app or site? Yes, answer the statistics: according to a survey published in October 2021 by Ifop (and carried out among 4,000 people aged 18 to 69), 22% of French people managed to find the woman / the man of their life on the internet during the year.

But to find true love (“the one that lasts forever”, as the song says), some dating sites are perhaps more effective than others… Thus, according to a study by the University of Picardy Jules-Verne published on June 23, 2023, 63.5% of Tinder users are already in a relationship – or even married!

Real dating on Tinder is unlikely

Worse still: among these 63.5% of infidels, only 50.3% would really be on Tinder to meet “offline”. In other words: half of them would only use Tinder as an “ego booster”, that is to say as a way to improve their self-esteem through likes and matches. Enough to shower the hopes of the (last) romantics registered on the platform…

Tinder would therefore be a “fool’s game“, according to the main author of this work: “those who want real-life encounters have a lower likelihood of achieving this, as fewer users share this goal“As for those who use the platform as a self-esteem crutch,”it is a bad idea because the statistics which concern the well-being of the users report a dissatisfaction; it is better to contact a mental health professional.”
