What is exertional hyperthermia?

How to avoid hyperthermia?

First of all by avoiding running in the heat. Prefer the cooler times of the day, such as evening or early morning. Afterwards, hydrate yourself properly. “The goal is not to drink a liter and a half a day, but to urinate a liter and a half” recalls Dr. Rozenblat. This means at least two sips of water every half hour, or even every five minutes in hot weather. »

In addition, be careful not to play sports within three hours after a meal (digestion does not help) and remember to apply an ice pack to the neck from time to time in full effort. “Because the brainstem is not far away, and it controls thermoregulation. »

Finally, try, as far as possible, not to go running alone, since in case of illness, you may not be able to call for help yourself. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying the sun!
