A new Chinese study says it: people with high blood pressure should invest in a connected blood pressure monitor to better protect themselves against heart attack and stroke.

If, like 17 million French people, you suffer from high blood pressure (HTA), perhaps you could consider buying a connected blood pressure monitor. Yet another pseudo-medical gadget, the connected blood pressure monitor? Not at all, according to a new study carried out by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine (in China): on the contrary, this inexpensive equipment would reduce the cardiovascular risk of people with hypertension.

To reach this conclusion, the researchers made projections based on medical data collected in the United States from adult patients suffering from hypertension, and over a period of 20 years.

Result ? Scientists estimate that having a connected blood pressure monitor at home could reduce the risk of stroke by around 3.8% and the risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack) by 4.9%, especially in the most vulnerable people who consult their doctor less during the year – precarious populations and/or people living in rural areas.
